About Me

Fitness was my calling from as far back as I can remember. I was a sprinter in school and played Netball for years. I was always active from a very young age. I paid for my own gym membership from the age of 16. Being born and raised in New Zealand helped a lot as I was always outdoors finding something active to do from mountain biking to learning to surf (still can't surf haha!). I didn't realize that one day I would take my hobbies and passion and turn them into a career.
I was in the corporate world for 8 years until I finally said 'enough is enough, I need to do something that lights me up'. So I hung up my suits in the back of the closet and studied for my certification in Personal Training. I worked in gyms and then started my own training business. An amazing opportunity came up to head the coaches at UFC Gym and I couldn't pass it up.
I have been personal training for over 4 years and I love it more and more each day. Helping people reach their potential inspires and motivates me. Sharing my experiences and being 'real' in this industry is key. After competing in a bodybuilding competition in 2014 and almost dying afterwards from adrenal fatigue, anxiety, panic attacks, and PTSD, I feel I can help people on a completely new level.
What saved me from that awful time of my life was Yoga and Meditation. I became a 200hr certified Yoga instructor during my recovery and that's where I learned the importance of BALANCE. I recovered completely naturally with no drugs or prescription medicine. I feel it is my duty to help others going through struggles by teaching them balance and finding strength within themselves.
This is my goal for this blog. To empower women who are struggling to create balance in their lives. I say 'create' instead of 'find' because balance is not something we find. We have to make a conscious effort to create it. It is hard work. We may fall and fail time and time again, but we are all learning and as long as we get right back up and learn from our misfits, we can build strength to endure and create the life we want.
